New York: Oppose SB6947

New York Trampoline Park Safety Legislation on The Move

A set of bills that would regulate trampoline parks by amending the trampoline park safety bill that was signed into law in 2019, Assembly Bill 8954, sponsored by Assemblyman Charles Fall (D-61) and Senate Bill 6947, sponsored by Senator Jamaal Bailey (D-36), are moving through the New York State Legislature.

SB6947/AB8954 would require safety notification and procedures at commercial trampoline parks. The owner/operator must maintain any records relating to injuries for 2 years. They bills also remove the operating permit requirements and the requirement that these types of parks register with the Department of State.

SB6947 passed the Senate 51-0 and has been referred to the Assembly Economic Development Committee.

Please contact members of the Assembly Economic Development Committee and ask that they vote NO on SB6947. While the attractions industry supports effective safety regulation, the industry cannot support SB6947 until the industry is given the opportunity provide input on best practices and internationally developed safety standards.
